The program focuses on the study of Philippine art within the context of national culture and history, with special attention to its contribution to the definition and formation of a national identity and the role it plays in social transformation.

The program provides rich sources of information and insights into Filipino consciousness and values that are essential to the student’s appreciation of his/her cultural heritage and understanding of himself/herself and his/her relationship with society.

At the end of the program, graduates are envisioned to be able to:
1. Demonstrate the values derived from the study of Philippine Arts that are contributory to the continuous formation of a national identity amidst cultural diversity.
2. Effect a sense of civic pride that translates as social change through culture and the arts, while maintaining sensitivity to and respect for cultural differences.
3. Demonstrate strong ethical grounding as a cultural heritage professional.
4. Engage in continuing education and other forms of professional development in the practice of the arts and art management.
5. Practice effective communication in art research, criticism, production, and management.
6. Create art pieces that demonstrate knowledge of artistic mediums and traditions.
7. Collaborate with government and non-government institutions in policy-related work on cultural heritage preservation and conservation programs.
8. Curate art exhibits, cultural heritage projects, and cultural events including programs integrating art and health.
